Questions parents often ask
How much does an evaluation or service cost?
Every case is unique. The right evaluation or support depends on your child’s age, needs and questions, so we don’t list one-size-fits-all prices. We’ll talk through options and costs on your free consultation, with no obligation.
Can I use my TEFA funds?
LearnWell is an approved Texas Education Freedom Account provider. Educational evaluations and dyslexia intervention can be paid with TEFA funds. Bring your questions to the free consultation, and we’ll walk you through how payment works.
What ages do you work with?
Audrey evaluates learners of all ages, from young children through college students and adults. Dyslexia intervention is for students in Kindergarten through high school.
How do I know if my child needs testing, intervention, or an IEP review?
You don’t have to figure that out on your own. Tell us what you’re noticing, and we’ll recommend the best place to start. That might be one service or a combination.
What happens during an evaluation?
Your child works one-on-one with Audrey, in person, on a set of tasks covering thinking, reading, writing, math and attention, depending on the questions we’re answering. We keep the pace comfortable and take breaks as needed. Afterward you receive a written report and a feedback meeting to go over the results. Families usually receive results within 2 to 3 weeks, depending on when all information from parents and teachers is received.
Can I share the report with my child’s school?
Yes. The report is yours to share. Schools consider outside evaluations as part of their own decision-making, and we can walk you through the results so you feel prepared to discuss them with your child’s school.
How is dyslexia intervention different from tutoring?
Tutoring usually helps with current schoolwork. Intervention teaches the underlying reading and spelling skills directly and in order, so reading becomes easier across every subject.
Where do appointments take place?
Evaluations and dyslexia intervention take place in person, by appointment, at our private office in Midland. It isn’t open for drop-ins, and we’ll share details when you schedule. Consultations and IEP and FIE reviews are virtual. We serve Midland, Odessa and the Permian Basin, with families across Texas.
